my regret that owing to the complicated nature of the New Territory

Land Claims, especially in areas which comprise a sea-board,

it has not been possible at an earlier date to comply with

the request of the War Office to be furnished with a statement of the extent and value of the land at Devil's Peak

which is required for the use of the War Department.

2.

I am now, however, in a position to transmit for your consideration statements by the Director of

Public Works and the President of the Land Court, which contain the fullest and most accurate information at the disposal

of this Government.

3.

I have been in communication on the subject with the local Military Authorities, and have furnished
